Introduction

Hey! My name is Hawkin — that’s right, Hawkin. I have a literal bird right in my name so getting into birding feels like destiny doesn’t it? You can see why I named my birding brand HawkInTheLens!

Birding Background

I got started with birding in 2023, when I picked up my first wildlife lens for my camera. I took it out to the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge in Utah and photographed some amazing species. At that point, it hadn’t fully clicked, though. I took the wildlife setup out again, this time to Antelope Island State Park in Utah, to photograph the native bison. Along the way, I came across various shorebirds and my eventual spark bird—the American Kestrel. I even made a YouTube video about my spark bird that you can check out here!

Since then, I’ve gone all in on a hobby I’ve grown to love. I started the HawkInTheLens YouTube channel, where I post my main content—birding adventures and other birding-related topics.
